The game has been around for quite some time. In fact, it's been stated that the Germans played it back in the 1800's. Others believe it to be conceived in Cincinnati in the 1980's. Regardless of your beliefs, my story starts in my backyard. My Dad introduced me to the game back in the early 2000's. We played with friends and family and occasionally got into a neighborhood competition. My skills seemed on point and had very little trouble whooping on the neighbors. I wanted to test my skills to see if I was really a decent player or just a good backyard player. I decided to partner up with my friend Matt and take a trip to Soldier Field in Chicago. For what we knew that was the largest cornhole tournament hosted at the time. Our division (the highest division) had 256 competitive teams. To our surprise we placed in the top 16 teams. BOOMSKI! We met a lot of great players at that tournament. Most players hailed from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. Our home state of Michigan had little to no participants. We wanted to make a change, and that we did. Matt and I started making boards, cornhole bags, score towers, and hosting events in West Michigan. The events became extremely popular and attracted players from all over the State. Some call us The Godfathers of Michigan cornhole. We just call ourselves Team Boomski! No matter your story or where you started playing the game, remember to always "exclaim your maximum greatness" with a loud BOOMSKI!
